Our history

In 2007, the Saint Charles Convention Center, proudly managed by Spectra,  embarked on a mission to give back to the community and produced the first annual Helping Hands for the Holidays.

The convention center created this free event with the goal to improve the lives of people in need during the holidays. Over the years the event has grown to more than 1,600 attendees and many volunteers.

In 2018, a remarkable 1,625 men, women and children enjoyed a warm holiday meal free of charge, along with coats, gloves, personal care items, haircuts, Santa and much more.

Thanks to hundreds of generous volunteers and donors, over 500 personal care bags and 1,350 winter coats were distributed to those in need. Community partners and exhibitors also played a huge role in the event’s successes, helping to provide 225 flu shots, 45 haircuts, free books for all ages, photos with Santa and fun holiday crafts.

This year, the Saint Charles Convention Center will be joining forces with We Love Saint Charles to continue to grow the success of this event.
